Little Library | State Library of South Australia

SLD was thrilled to have distributed the Xicato XFL lighting system through our Australian reseller, bluebottle, for the newly opened Little Library at the State Library of South Australia.

In late August 2026, the State Library of South Australia officially opened its own Little Library for the young book lovers of Adelaide. Designed especially for children, the space encourages play, early literacy and curiosity. Developed in collaboration with the City of Adelaide, the Little Library is part of Raising Literacy Australia's Words Grow Minds campaign and is supported by a $2 million investment from the State Government Arts Investment Fund. The design and construction team consisted of Art Processors, Chappell Builders, and creatives Carlo Jensen, Andrew Joyner and Lawson Dodd.

Benjamin Cisterne was engaged for the specialised lighting design throughout the Little Library. For the cabinetry and book displays, Xicato Flexible LED Linear tape was selected, specifically the Static White, 16.4 W/metre, 3000K version with a CRI of 95. Xicato LED tape is known for its high efficiency, exceptional colour accuracy, reliability and low power consumption. Our local reseller, bluebottle, supplied the LED lighting solution and worked with South Drawn to fit the Xicato LED tape into custom channels, which were then installed throughout the designer space.
Congratulations to bluebottle and everyone involved. For more information on Xicato, our reseller network, or the Little Library, please contact our team.
