SLD was proud to have distributed the Ljus Design lighting system to the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton.

After being destroyed by a fire in 2015, the iconic yet remote Winton Waltzing Matilda Centre finally reopened its doors in 2018. The impressively designed building with authentic robust materials which sits proudly on its rugged Australian landscape, is a beacon for tourism and the people of Winton to enjoy. This striking centre consists of an exhibition space, reading room, memorizing arrival space, gallery, shop, tourist information hub and café. The exhibitions hold space for an extensive collection of historical artefacts and memorabilia all delivered in an immersive, sensory experience unlike any other.

The expert collaboration of lighting design led by Benjamin Cisterne and exhibition design by Arterial Design played a key part in the project’s success. Our team assisted with the distribution of the Ljus Design spotlights that were installed throughout the exhibition spaces and delivered quality, performance, and design excellence.

Congratulations to all involved in this special project which has won many design awards over the years due to its experimental concept. For more information on our contribution, Ljus Design and the Waltzing Matilda Centre, please contact our team.
