SLD was proud to support the installation of the Ljusdesign lighting system to MOD, the Museum of Discovery at the University of South Australia, in collaboration with our Australian reseller, bluebottle.

Located in the heart of Adelaide, MOD is recognised as Australia’s leading future-focused museum. It engages young adults through thought-provoking exhibitions at the intersection of art, science and innovation. The collaborative team at MOD continually deliver award-winning exhibitions, events and experiences across its multi-level, architectural spaces.

In 2023, the museum's second-level gallery underwent a minor lighting upgrade, featuring the Swedish-designed Ljusdesign track system. The project included the installation of Arty Framer spotlights which are a highly versatile fixture with adjustable zoom and shutters for precise framing. The MOD team selected models with a local dimmer and Casambi control, enabling seamless adjustments via Bluetooth on the app to suit the evolving needs of the annual exhibition changes.

As shown in the photographs above, the Arty Framer spotlights are used to enhance a projection-based exhibit where lighting plays a key role in audience interaction. The installation, titled Infinity, is a collaborative work by artist Daniel Lawrence and soundscape intern, John Craig. The piece invites young visitors to reflect on the concept of time and its possible infinitude.

The project marks a successful partnership between SLD, bluebottle SA and the MOD team and we feel priviledage to have contributed to such forward-thinking space. For more information on our contribution, Ljusdesign and MOD Museum, please contact our team.
