SLD is proud to have supported the installation of Ljusdesign, CAN and Xicato XFL lighting at the newly upgraded Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon Museum.

Officially opening in May 2026, the Bridge Museum is located inside the south-east pylon of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, sitting 87 metres above sea level. Designed for all ages, the museum offers a truly unique experience, combining interactive installations, multimedia exhibits, and storytelling that showcases the bridge's construction, cultural history, and its pivotal role in Sydney's development.

Key design collaborators on this project were Thylacine and Benjamin Cisterne, engaged to lead the exhibition and lighting design throughout the museum. With the space constructed entirely within the pylon, it presented a unique and challenging canvas for Benjamin Cisterne for the lighting plan, one where considered use of colour became an important tool in guiding and engaging visitors throughout the journey.

SLD supplied the Australian-made and designed CAN RGBW Track Spotlights, which were precisely focused on-site by the installation and design team using the colour-changing Casambi Bluetooth app. This robust spotlight features an interchangeable lens kit, making it highly adaptable for a complex and layered installation such as this.

To complement these, SLD also supplied exhibition-grade luminaires from Ljusdesign, specifically, the popular Arty Zoom spotlights with Casambi integration, and the miniature showcase spotlights, the Gizmo, mounted on Pico Trac. Purpose-built for exactly this type of application, Ljusdesign spotlights are renowned for their premium light quality, exceptional dimming performance, and refined aesthetics. Manufactured in Sweden, the fittings are modular, repairable, and upgradable, designed to maximise lifespan, reduce material waste, and champion the right to repair.

For the showcases and custom joinery framing, the Xicato flexible linear LED tape in 14W, Static White was installed. This is a premium, architectural-grade flexible LED strip designed for museum applications where consistency and colour accuracy are essential.

Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering this exceptional project. For further details on the lighting systems used at the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon Museum, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the SLD team.
